Hamilton: An Honest Review
By Nora A. and Naomi H.

As people who love the the Broadway show, Hamilton, we can assure you that it is one of the best and most spectacular shows ever created. If you don’t know, Hamilton is a musical. From raps to slow melodies, Hamilton the best musical by far. The costumes are amazingly designed. One of the best things about Hamilton is the fact that it tells a true historic story. Hamilton has gotten over 16 nominees and has won 11 awards. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the amazing musical. In fact, it actually took him 7 years to write it, but it was well worth it. Just by listening to the music you can learn so much about Alexander Hamilton.

New Movie Is Practically Magic
By Lilah S.

A new movie by J.K Rowling just hit the theaters, and it is not one to pass up. The movie is called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (FB). FB is about a wizard, who has been kicked out of Hogwarts (the wizarding school described in the Harry Potter series) and now travels around the world spreading awareness for the magical beasts that he keeps in his suitcase. His name is Newt Scamander, and for anyone wondering, he is a Hufflepuff. He goes to America were he befriends a No-Maj (a non-wizard), an ex-Auror (a police officer for the wizarding community), and the Auror’s sister. They go on many adventures and at the end of a movie face a battle that challenges their courage and intelligence. As a strong lover of the Harry Potter books and movies, FB is a great opportunity to let my inner fan-girl out once again. I personally loved the movie.

*The cast list includes:

  • Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander: an eccentric, introverted wizard, magizoologist and an employee at the Ministry of Magic. Scamander is the future author of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry standard textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
  • Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein: a grounded, down-to-earth witch and a former Auror employed by the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). She longs to fight for what is right, but was demoted to a position well below her skill level.
  • Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski: a genial No-Maj cannery worker and aspiring baker who is accidentally exposed to the New York City magical community after meeting Newt.
  • Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein: Porpentina’s younger sister and roommate, described as a bombshell, free-spirited, and big-hearted, and is accomplished in Legilimency.

An Original Poem: Autumn Is a Surgeon

Written by Ella H.

Autumn is a surgeon.
Washing the summer away with rain and cold days.
Operating on the delicate leaves.
Preparing for the winter, that’s on its way.

Studying the grass making sure there is no litter.
Looking for any snow on the ground.
Writing how the summer days are hot and bitter.
Wishing that there will be no storms that are loud.

Autumn makes leaves of different colors.
Mixing the sun and rain.
Using the pumpkins as bowls.
Stirring the weather around in no pain.

Searching the clouds for rain for the crops.
Working on raking the leaves.
Healing the heat to the bitter cold.
Waiting for the results of his hard work on the trees.

A Day in the life of BCDS

By Jessica B.

The picture on the left shows different things that happen daily at BCDS and different things at the school. For instance, in the picture on the last row in the middle, is a teacher(Mrs. Miller) teaching a regular day class. Another example is in the bottom right corner which shows our fish tank which is a very nice place to learn about fish while they do their thing. Two of the pictures feature many pieces of artwork posted around the school done by our very own students.
